Oscar De La Hoya, a BOXING legend, claimed that he was raped at age 13 by an "older woman".
The Golden Boy will be back in the ring against Vitor Belfort, a former UFC light-heavyweight champion.
Oscar De La Hoya claimed that he was raped at 13 by an "older woman".
Six-weight world champion De La Hoya opens up about his struggle with substance abuse after his retirement.
In an open interview with the Los Angeles Times he revealed a painful childhood experience.
He stated that he was raped by a woman at 13 years old, and an older woman.
"Thirteen, lost the virginity of my wife over being, you'll know, raped basically.
"I was there in Hawaii at some tournament. She was 35 years old.
De La Hoya (48) put the terrible ordeal behind him as he began a career that would lead to a hall of fame.
He didn't take the time to process the alleged assault.
Olympic gold medallist, he added: "You suppress all.
"You are living the Golden Boy life. But, oh, s**t!
"Like it never, like I ever thought about it. I never processed it. I never really thought about how my feelings were... until it all comes out and you don’t know how to handle it.
After years of struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, De La Hoya decided to make a major change in his life.
He stated that he couldn't drink and do drugs. You know what? I'm going throw my life away.
Since being dismantled in Las Vegas by Manny Pacquiao, De La Hoya hasn’t been inside the ring.
He closed the curtains on his legendary career five months later - a decision that he regrets to this very day.
He stated, "The next day deep down, it's like why did I do this?
"You convince yourself that things will get better when you retire.
"Jesus, this is the moment you have been waiting for all your life.
"And once you retire, once you stop doing what you love, there is a huge hole."
After 12 years of inactivity, De La Hoya finally feels the need to put on her gloves.
He anticipates that his confrontation with Belfort will be a full-blown war.
The Olympian stated that "This fight is f *****g insane important. It is what defines me.
"If Belfort is right in front, I'll tell them thank you and that we will f ----- beat each other. That's it.
It's going be great. That's what you should remember. I love fighting. Belfort is a legend.
"It's a challenge to be a big man. That's what keeps me going. Let's get going!
"Everyone who knows me knows that I fight with all my heart. I train like a madman when I train.
"I was sick of all these exhibitions. You're there to go to war when you're there.
"That's what you can expect from me. He's a huge motherf r. I will tell you that I do this for the right reasons. It's the best time, both mentally and physically.
"I am in the zone right now. "I know that we will enter a f *****g conflict.
It's fine. It's great. That's what I love. This is my life. But it's too late. He is respected. He is my hero.
