Richard Schaefer, president of PROBELLUM, expects that the organization will grow to be one of the largest combat sports organizations in the world. He believes it won't take long for them to surpass Golden Boy.
The self-described 'Global Media and Boxing Company’ has made significant progress in its plans to revolutionize the sport through a unique combination of media content and promotional expertise, just four months after it was founded.
Probellum has taken the boxing industry by storm, signing several top-name fighters
They have signed 25 partnerships agreements with top boxing promoters and multiple broadcast agreements all over the world. In just a few short years, they also added some major-name fighters.
Schaefer is confident that the sport will continue to grow and Schaefer sees a bright future.
SunSport quoted him as saying: "This will be the largest boxing promotion platform ever created on a global level.
"I founded before the largest promotion business with Golden Boy. It wasn't really a global company. It was a US-based business that did fights in the UK, Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan.
"But this is something else. This isn't Golden Boy 2.0. It is Golden Boy multiplied by a hundred. This is a completely different level of company.
"I'm thrilled and excited, and I'm really fired up for this fight and to give these fighters an chance."
Schafer was certain that the all-star team he had assembled would succeed, but even so, he couldn't have imagined the rapid success that has been achieved.
He said, "In all my wildest dreams, it was impossible for me to have imagined that we would get to where we are today in so little time."
"I'm certain there has never been in combat sports history any entity that has done so much in such a short time and delivered on what they set out to do.
"We have over-delivered when you look back at all that we have done. That's something I love. Because people often overpromise and underdeliver in boxing, and many other areas.
"But our slogan and mine is under-promise, overdeliver, and that's exactly how we've done it."
The boxing world has been captivated by the signings of Regis Prograis, Badoujack and Team GB stars Pat McCormack. They have proven that Probellum is serious.
Schaefer stated that Probellum is the best place for fighters to be. You can become a professional fighter, whether you are a young fighter, or like the McCormack Brothers, one of the most highly sought-after fighters in the entire world.
"And they choose Probellum out of all the promotions in the universe.
"Fighters want to be with Probellum, regardless of whether they are talking about world champions such as Nonito Donaire, a Regis Prograis, or a Sunny Edwards, and everything in between. That's the best endorsement one can get.
Probellum's early success led to them increasing the number of shows that they are involved in from 200 to 300 per year.
Schafer explained: "Initially, we thought around 200 events per annum where Probellum would be either the sole promoter of the co-promoter.
"But this number is now closer than 300 events per annum. Everyone thought I was insane when I stated four months ago that Probellum would be involved in 200 events across the globe.
"Because it's so unbelievable to say. They said that it was probably typical promoter talk. We'll be hosting 300 events instead of 200.
Probellum might be involved in a potential rematch of the 2019 Fight of the Year, which would see Naoya Inoue, unified bantamweight champion, and Nonito Donaire.
Schaefer stated: "That's where Probellum is after four months. We're also having advanced discussions here in the United States, and the same in Britain.
"So, we are very, very excited. It's hard to imagine where we'll be in one year.
Probellum is focusing on the UK to establish a foothold this year. The promotion will kick off in Newcastle with a stacked card on March 25.
Schaefer stated, "We will be doing regular events across the UK." "Our UK and Irish stable is quickly becoming the best in the sport.
"And again, I have no doubt in a year that we will have one of the best stables in boxing in the UK.
The UK is a key market for us. It is one of our key markets and one of the largest markets in the sport. They are the best. They are the best.
Schaefer stated that the Newcastle show will feature Pat McCormack making his professional debut.
It's going be, I dare say, the best lineup Newcastle and that area has ever seen on one card.
"It's going be a huge night in Newcastle. I will be flying to Newcastle, and I will be there to promote guys.
While Probellum is still in its infancy stage, Schaefer believes that the promotion has set the groundwork for a "boxing revolution".
With big names and potential stars continuing to sign deals with the promotion, it's easy to believe that the outfit will be a major player in the fight scene.
