ROBERT GARICIA acknowledges that it will be difficult for him to transform Anthony Joshua into a three time heavyweight champion.
American legend Robert McCracken was fired last September after Watford's defeat to Oleksandr Uzyk. The former longtime trainer to AJ, McCracken, has been drafted in as AJ's new coach.
Oleksandr Usyk turned Anthony Joshua over in their Tottenham tussle
, AJ has drafted Robert Garcia, a respected coach.
Garcia, 47, is a coach who has trained 14 champions but has not yet coached a heavyweight to a title. This will be possible when Joshua faces Usyk again later in the summer.
He stated, "It's an enormous challenge for me since this is my first fight for a title as a heavyweight." It's almost like a dream come true.
"I have had champions in nearly every weight division, from 105 to108 to 112 to 112 and 115 to 118 to 122 to 126 to 135lbs.
"I believe I'm missing super-middleweight, cruiserweight, and light-heavyweight. These are the three I am missing, plus heavyweight.

"But having a heavyweight champion in the top is the best. I'm excited."
Garcia, a former super-featherweight champion, never imagined training a heavyweight opponent. Little Giant Boxing reports that Garcia said it was "not a good idea because it is different."
Their training methods are very different from a light weight. We are used to running, speed work, and a lot more. It's different with heavyweights.
Garcia traveled to the UK twice to train with AJ, just before his appointment was confirmed. He has been impressed by the Brits' work ethic.

"He works as hard a lightweight as anyone. That's what makes the difference.
"The few heavyweights that I have worked with, they're lazy because they are heavy and don't work as hard.
They're a bit lazy. All of this has already happened.
"So that's probably the reason I had the idea that, "Maybe I'll never ever work with any heavyweights." '"
Joshua, 32, was defeated by Usyk, a southpaw fighter, in their fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last September. He lost his grip on the WBA and WBO heavyweight titles and was replaced by Usyk.
Although Usyk will prove difficult to crack the second time, Garcia is enjoying the challenge of directing the undefeated Ukrainian team's first professional loss.
