What Happened?
Roy Keane found himself in an awkward situation when he had to explain his comments about heavyweight boxing being "irritating" to boxing promoter Eddie Hearn. Keane was asked to pick a favorite between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury during an interview with Gary Neville.
Keane's Blunt Response
When asked about his preference, Keane responded, "I don't like any of them. The heavyweight stuff, it's irritating me. So much talk. None of them, they both irritate me. I'm not picking anyone."
Face-to-Face with Hearn
During an episode of The Overlap, Keane came face to face with Eddie Hearn, who is the promoter for Anthony Joshua. Despite the awkward encounter, Keane stood his ground and reiterated his stance. Hearn even admitted that Keane had a point, saying, "That is the danger of the public going, 'I've had enough. How difficult can it be?'"
The Future of Joshua and Fury
Eddie Hearn remains optimistic that Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will eventually face each other in the ring. He believes that the emergence of Saudi Arabia as a major player in boxing, offering large sums of money, could make it a lucrative opportunity for both fighters. However, this would depend on Fury defeating Oleksandr Usyk and Joshua defeating Deontay Wilder in their upcoming fights.

A Potential £100 Million Fight
Hearn predicts that if Fury beats Usyk and Joshua beats Wilder, the two fighters could each make over £100 million from a potential showdown. He has been negotiating a deal for Joshua to fight Wilder, but it fell through when Saudi backers pulled out. As a result, Joshua may have an interim bout before revisiting talks with Wilder in 2024.
The Road Ahead for Fury
Tyson Fury, on the other hand, has a crossover clash against ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Riyadh next weekend. He has also signed for a historic four-belt unification bout against Oleksandr Usyk. While a Battle of Britain between Fury and Joshua is currently on hold, Hearn remains hopeful that a deal can be reached in the future.
It seems like the heavyweight boxing world still has a lot of twists and turns ahead, but fans are eagerly awaiting the possibility of a monumental showdown between Joshua and Fury.
