Dillian Whyte hoped for a title shot against Gypsy King

Dillian Whyte, a former sparring partner, has been mentioned as a possible opponent. However, the Londoner is involved in legal wrangling about his mandatory challenger status.

Promoter Ben Shalom, who met Fury at the British championship fight of his cousin Hosea Burton on Saturday, revealed Fury's current thoughts.

Sky Sports' Shalom said that he told him he would fight in February or March but didn't know which fighter. We just happened to notice it.

"But he wants fight in February or march, regardless of whether it's against Dillian. He is firm about it."

This confirms the statements Fury promoter Frank Warren made over his charge’s next move.

Due to legal proceedings between Whyte, the WBC and Wythenshawe, Wythenshawe fighter appears without a mandatory challenger

Although Whyte was expected be given the mandate to fight the Gypsy King, he will need to wait until the arbitration results to see if that happens.

Warren stated to TalkSPORT that Tyson is not required to answer due to legal wranglings with Dillian Whyte. Tyson can continue with a defense of his belt, which would be a fight I'd love to stage in the UK.

"Tyson has made it clear that he wants to fight in February/early March, and that's what the team is moving forward with.

Tyson wants to be active and has had only one fight in 22 month. Dillian Whyte's fate will be decided by the courts.
