Richard Commey was defeated by Teofimo Lopez

On his June return to the ring, he beat Japan's Masayoshi Nagani and demanded a rematch with Lopez.

He will first face Commey, the ex-champion Lopez brutally knocked out December 2019.

Lomchenko (33), said that it was always special to fight at Madison Square Garden. There have been so many memorable moments in my career.

"Richard Commey, a former champion of the world, is an opponent that I will not underestimate.

"I expect Commey to be the best version of himself, and I will be ready for anything he brings on December 11.

After just 12 fights, Lomachenko was a champion at three weight and has now called Lopez to fight him again.

The unbeaten champion, however, will face George Kambosos Jr., 28 on November 27.

Lomachenko is left to wait, but 30-3 Commey has chosen a tough opponent with 27 KOs.

Commey, 34 years old, stated that he wanted to thank his team, Lou DiBella and Michael Amoo–Bediako for giving him this opportunity.

"Ever since the Lopez fight all I have ever thought about is becoming two-time world champion.

"This fight against Lomachenko will bring me one step closer towards my goal.

"I would also like to thank Bob Arum, Top Rank and Madison Square Garden for giving me the chance to once again grace that stage, which is one of the most iconic venues in boxing."

"I am aware that I am considered the underdog by most people, but I want to prove them wrong and make Ghana proud again."

Nico Ali Walsh, the great-grandson of The Greatest, will be fighting in his third professional bout on the undercard.

The super-middleweight already has two KO wins, but his next opponent is not yet confirmed.
