Perhaps the greatest damage was done in round 11, with one right hand.

Replays showed that the shot bounced off Ortiz's head and almost immediately gave him a closed-eye.

Former world title challenger boxed bravely to the end and asked for another fight with Ruiz (32), as he refused retire.

Ortiz, 43 years old, stated that he wanted a rematch. Although I tried to keep my hands open, the eyes weren't a problem.

"Do you think you're done after this?" What do people want?

Ruiz dropped Ortiz twice during round 2, and again in round 7, on his way to a unanimous points victory.

He stated, "It was difficult man.

"But the ability I have, me counterpunching and waiting for him load up and dropping him.

"It was a blessing. Man and I just want God to thank so much."

Ruiz won the WBC title eliminator against Deontay Wilder (36), who was fighting in a similar bout with Robert Helenius (38).

This means that Wilder, if he wins, will be able to fight the Mexican American for the right of challenge for the belt currently held by Tyson Fury (34).

Ruiz stated: "God willing, he wins against Robert.

"Me and him belong to the same organization, I want Al Haymon to be thanked for making this fight possible, and let's get on with it.
