Wayne Rooney’s Boxing Switch Masterplan: Unveiled

Wayne Rooney, the legendary Manchester United icon, is reportedly planning a surprising move into the world of boxing. But this decision may not be as sudden as it seems. In fact, Rooney's interest in the sport dates back to his schoolboy days when he trained at an amateur club in Liverpool. Despite choosing football over boxing, Rooney's passion for the sport has never waned.

The Preliminary Talks and Celebrity Crossover Bouts

According to reports, Rooney has recently engaged in preliminary talks with Misfits Boxing, a boxing promotion founded by YouTuber-turned boxer KSI. Misfits Boxing is known for organizing celebrity-style crossover bouts, which are streamed on the popular platform DAZN. This unique concept has attracted stars from the worlds of social media, MMA, and boxing, who compete in high-profile events.

Rooney's interest in entering the ring has not gone unnoticed. In fact, KSI himself revealed that the former footballer reached out to him personally to discuss the possibility of a fight. Although KSI declined the offer, he expressed openness to the idea of having Rooney join the boxing world.

Eddie Hearn's Take on Rooney's Boxing Ambitions

Eddie Hearn, the renowned boxing promoter who works with heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, has also spoken about Rooney's desire to step into the boxing ring. Hearn revealed that Rooney has always been passionate about the sport and has even participated in amateur fights at local clubs. Hearn has received messages from Rooney expressing his interest in fighting, particularly targeting a matchup against Jake Paul.

Furthermore, Hearn has suggested the possibility of Rooney returning to Old Trafford, the iconic home of Manchester United, to take on Jake Paul in a highly anticipated showdown. Hearn believes that with Rooney's boxing skills and the allure of the venue, such a fight could become a reality.

Rooney's Journey Beyond Football

Since retiring from professional football in 2021, Rooney has transitioned into coaching. However, he has yet to find a new managerial role after being sacked by Birmingham in January. With his boxing ambitions now in the spotlight, it remains to be seen whether Rooney will pursue a career inside the squared circle.

As the world eagerly awaits further developments, Rooney's potential boxing switch promises to be a captivating chapter in his post-football journey.
