Poirier, a former interim lightweight champion, is now the main man at 155. After back-to-back wins against Conor McGregor, Poirier is the main guy at 155lbs

Poirier (32), is the official No.1 contender in the 155lb strap, but he recently got into a verbal battle with Diaz.

The Diamond admitted that he could snub a title shot to finally grab the Stockton slugger.

During an appearance on The MMA Hour he stated that both were potential opponents.

"I must have my phone ring to talk to the UFC about their plans, and what we're doing."

Poirier, a fan favorite, is currently in denial about the UFC’s plans for the lightweight division.

SunSport however understands that Oliveira's first defense of the 155lb crown is tentatively scheduled for December.

Poirier stated: "I believe I'm number one and should be fighting for my belt."

"I believe that Dana said that after the fight that that was the next thing that would happen."

"I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I have a feeling that we’ll find out soon."

The Ultimate Fighter Season Five winner Diaz has blasted Poirier via Twitter for declining to resolve their long-running feud.

This notion baffled Nick Diaz, the former interim lightweight champion. He decided to discredit it.

Poirier stated that Diaz's tweets were "Wolf tickets Ariel." Wolf tickets.

"You all know the way these negotiations work, but unless they're talking with him, nothing's offered to me.

"I have not spoken to the UFC. Nate is not the same. However, as I mentioned, I believe they will call me soon.

Three years ago, Poirier and Diaz were scheduled to meet at UFC 230 in New York.

However, Poirier was forced to leave their Madison Square Garden showdown after sustaining a hip injury.

Since then, the Louisianan has been determined to share the cage with Stockton's slugger. Joe Rogan, UFC commentator, stated that "I think before my fight is over, I'm going out to fight 170."

"I'll fight Nate up to 170. For sure. Because of how it broke apart, I believe so.

He said, "Me and him were supposed fight at Madison Square Garden.

"I was kind of the fall guy. He points out that I pulled out of the fight, and I did.

"I went to get stem cell treatment on my hip.

"But I was going fight, I was going through a camp to fight him if they hadn't started offering me replacement opponents.
