Diaz was quick to notice The Diamond's call and responded in typical Diaz fashion.
He tweeted, "Let's fight, don't feel scared this time."
Poirier, a fan favourite, has not yet responded to Diaz's response. It received over 14,000 likes.
Three years ago, Diaz and Poirier (36 and 32, respectively) were scheduled to face one another in the main event at UFC 230 in New York.
Poirier sustained a hip injury and was unable to participate in the Madison Square Garden matchup.
After watching Conor McGregor win, Ultimate Fighter Season Five winner Diaz expressed interest in facing the Louisianan in January.
After Poirier's victory over The Notorious, he increased his call-out.
Diaz also tweeted: "185lbs. Pull-up
Poirier instantly responded to Stockton's slugger by saying, "I'd touch up on you at any weight."
Poirier, despite being one weight below Diaz, hopes to one day share an octagon table with his fan favorite.
He said this during an appearance on Joe Rogan Experience Podcast: "I think before my end fighting, I'm going fight 170."
"I'll fight Nate up to 170. For sure. Because of how it broke apart, I believe so.
He said, "Me and him were supposed fight at Madison Square Garden.
"I was kind of the fall guy. He points out that I pulled out of the fight, and I did.
"I went to get stem cell treatment on my hip.
"But I was going fight, I was going through a camp to fight him if they hadn't started offering me replacement opponents.
"Nate was playing with the UFC and UFC began offering me opponents.
"I said, "Look guys, this is happening. I'm just going have my hip checked."
"He's a man I've always wanted fight."
