Christian Lohsen, a MMA fighter, revealed that he had to have his testicle removed because it burst during a freak training accident.
Lohsen is 9-2 and has most recently defeated Jonas Flok on August's Professional Fighters League card.
The American shared his shock injury via Instagram, but it will not hinder his ability to have children.
Lohsen, 26 years old, wrote: "So last evening was rough.
"In a training accident, my left testicle was broken by a knee. This led to me having it surgically removed.
"Thank you everyone who helped me get to the hospital last night. Surgery went well, I am now able to rest at home.
Doc said that I wouldn't lose testosterone or my ability to have children from this.
"If I lose one, however, it's a completely different story. So if you hit my last testicle in the head, we're not friends... lol."
Similar injuries were suffered in 2018 by Devin Powell in training. He had fought four times in the UFC as well as twice with Bellator.
After Joe Lauzon, his training partner, ruptured his testicle while he was practicing knees on the floor, he had to undergo surgery.
Powell, now 33 years old, has fought three more times. He lost to Manny Muro in November 2020.
Lohsen will hope for a similar recovery after impressing in his PFL debut beating Flok on points.
In 2019, he lost to JJ Okanovich (31), in Dana White's UFC "Contender Series".
