Conor McGregor sustained a terrible leg injury in his trilogy bout with Dustin Pourier

The trio bout ended in July with him suffering further pain when he suffered a horrendous leg injury just seconds before round one.

The doctor stopped the Irishman from working. He claimed that he had landed "nasty elbows" and "upkicks" during the chaotic first round.

McGregor is now looking to fight his American opponent, even though it was a stunning victory.

He tweeted, "Really bad elbows and upkicks for certain."

"That, or perhaps a really irritating blue bottle was around him afterwards the fight, lol.

They aren't looking forward to the future, but it is clear that they don't want to be mistaken. It will all be settled when I return. It will be settled once and for all."

McGregor, 33 years old, said he was unable to walk due to a leg injury during his fight next year with Poirier 32.

He doubled down on the business still to be done between them.

McGregor wrote: "In my final camp, I'd suffered a severe injury to my left leg.

"Most of my sessions were in open guard bottom. Then staying there. There are still full rounds to go.

"I beat people until they stopped backing away from me. The fight was born. True story.

"His head was sore, his leg was sore. That's a good thing. His leg was busted, but that's not to say it wasn't.

"I had the thigh minced. It's not yet settled, I believe. This is the best response I can offer."
