Roman Abramovich, Blues owner, is asking for PS3bn in order to sell his beloved club

According to reports, the Russian oligarch rejected a bid of PS2.5bn.

McGregor had joked earlier this week that he was planning a surprise swoop to purchase the West London outfit.

He tweeted: "I would like to explore this. @ChelseaFC."

33-year-old Irishman shared an animation of himself as Chelsea's manager and also had a conversation with Abramovich, who was wearing a club tracksuit.

McGregor, a Dublin native, has claimed that he made an offer to Abramovich after learning that he is asking for PS3bn.

He took to Twitter to joke: "I hereby submit my offer of PS1.5bn."

McGregor would need to spend twice that amount if he was serious about his offer to Abramovich.

Abramovich has rejected a reported PS2.5bn offer from an unnamed bidder, according to Reuters.

Joe Ravitch is co-founder and chief executive officer of Raine Group LLC investment bank.

He said that the club is eager to find a buyer who will be the best steward for Chelsea in the future, and at a fair price.

He stated to Reuters that he was not going to rush anything. It is vital that Chelsea has the right owner to lead the club forward.

Lotfy Mansour, an Egyptian billionaire, has already pulled out from the race to buy the club.

The current favorites to succeed are the American-Swiss billionaire group of Todd Boehly, Hansjorg Wyss and Hansjorg Wyss.

Wyss doesn't intend to spend a lot on the transfer market, it has been stated.
