His praises also included a shot at Dustin Poirier, a rival

McGregor used social media to commend both men for their bravery on Sunday night, but he also took aim at Poirier.

The Notorious tweeted "Great fight that."

"Both warriors, both winners. It's hard not to be impressed by Deontay.

"Against the larger man, and nearly got it done. It was a great fight.

The difference in weight of 40lb is a lot. Both men were very friendly and had some great fights. Respect.

"Their skill level is unique, but they are very close. It was a great heavyweight trio.

"I love it when it is set for sure and both have an honorable showing.

"Not the fake celebrants in the ring after a freak injury etc. You know the gig, God Bless the Real in this World.

"Congratulations Tyson, Paris. Dee and I are so happy for you all. Congratulations Deontay, Telli.

"It was great to meet you guys recently. It was a proud performance and it could have gone either way.

"Amazing! "Happy Sunday!

McGregor referred back to the "freak accident" McGregor suffered in his UFC 264 Trilogy fight with Poirier.

In the final seconds of round one of Sin City's Sin City Showdown, the former champion in two divisions broke his left fibula and tibia.

McGregor, 33 years old, is recovering faster than expected and feels ready to throw one of his many kicks.

The Irishman said to Adam's Apple last month: "I feel like kicking right now.

"I feel like I could kick right about now, but I have to listen to my doctors and listen to those who are leading me.

"That's all I've done so I've committed myself and am now back on my feet.

"It feels so good to get back on your feet."
