Conor McGregor, UFC's superstar, suggests Khabib Nurmagomedov retire to avoid certain defeat during a mega rematch.

CONOR MCGREGOR suggested Khabib Nurmagomedov might have retired in order to avoid defeat in a UFC rematch.

After beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 25,4, the undefeated lightweight champion was forced to retire in October.

McGregor took the time to praise his bitter rival during an Twitter Q&A.

Three years ago, the Irishman was eliminated in the fourth round after he faced Nurmagomedov in Las Vegas.

Since then, the two have continued to make snide remarks about each other in interviews as well as on social media.

When asked his opinion on the Dagestani star Notorious replied: "A phenomenal grappler fighter.

It is the current sport's best. They know the answer and I have it.

After his win over McGregor, Nurmagomedov beat Dustin Poirier before retiring.

After extending his record at 29-0, he put down his gloves and promised to keep his promise to his mother that this would be his last fight.

Khabib claimed that he would have killed McGregor in the submission hold that prevented Notorious from their 2018 clash.

McGregor was defeated by the Russian when they met in UFC 229.

After months of bitter rivalry, McGregor attacked Khabib's bus.

After the fight, a massive brawl broke out when Khabib got out of the Octagon. Both fighters were given lengthy suspensions.

Khabib stated in an interview with RT that McGregor could have died if McGregor had not been stopped by the referee.

He said, "You saw what happened. You can remove Herb Dean, and you will see if I would have gone all the way to the end.

A person can easily be killed by such a grip. You would be able to understand the meaning of this if I were to strangle your neck.

"When someone strangles you for more than 30 years, it is called a cold weapon. What would have happened if there was no referee?

"Dean took my hands, he took my grip. We know everything. We also understand what could have happened."
