UFC President Dana White hit back at critics of fighter compensation, insisting that a large percentage of boxers are being "overpaid".
For many years, the topic of increasing combatant pay has been a hot topic in mixed martial arts promotion. Many big names have voiced their discontent.
Jake Paul, a YouTuber and boxer, has advocated for better pay in UFC
It was only recently brought to our attention by Jake Paul, a YouTuber and boxer who publicly criticized the promotion of entry-level salaries.
White, UFC's supremo, has not shied away from the topic. This is partly due to the excessively large purses that boxing promoters have given out.
White stated that there will always be headbutting during a appearance on The Pivot Podcast.
"Do you have enough money?" Do you? I would love to meet the guy who says, "Oh, I'm great!" I have a lot of money. I don't have any more money.

"You will never meet this guy. It is unlikely. Everyone wants more money.
"And one of the big problems with boxing too is that all those f*****g guys are overpaid, and every time they put on a fight, it's a going-out-of-business sale.
"We are just trying to get as much *****g money from you guys and then we'll be out of here. We will see you in three more years."
White and the Fertitta brothers Frank, Lorenzo, turned the UFC into an international entity worth staggering PS3.1billion. This is the amount WME-IMG paid for the promotion Zuffa purchased in the summer 2016.

He said, "You cannot build a league as that." It is impossible to build a sport.
With that mentality, you can't have 750 fighters working under contract and making money. It's not possible. It is necessary to manage a business."
UFC fighters currently take home 20% of the annual revenue, but White says that the incentive-based structure of the company gives them the opportunity to keep a lot of money.
He stated that if you are the champion, you get a share of the pay-per view revenue.
"If you are the headlining guy on the card or have been to special occasions, we know that you're making a lot of money. You're a big draw, so you can also get a share in the pay per view revenue. You can eat what you kill.
"The truth is that you can get some of these guys and walk in and say, "I want $30,000,000 dollars." Based on what? I do too.
"Give me $30 Million. "Give me $30 million.
"And you're not going to have the guys on either side worrying about business of the sport.
"Because it's not a team sport. It's all about me in this sport. "I'm the biggest star in this sport. I was able to kill 30 people.
"I did that, I did that. I want to make as much money as possible, and I don't care about anyone else, even the boss. This business is not important to me. It's all about me.

"So, you need to have some control over this type of stuff in order to run a real company.
"Because we have built a solid [business] that allows fighters to make lots of money and do well -- even journeymen can do well. That's why this business has been a rocket ship of success."
