UFC rivals Dustin Poirier & Nate Diaz agreed to fight each other.
Poirier, a fan favourite, is still coping with the heartbreaking loss to Charles Oliveira, lightweight champ at UFC 269 last Saturday.
Dustin Poirier & Nate Diaz were scheduled to meet in November 2018.
After his defeat, the former interim champ at 155lb cast doubt on his future but said he would fight again if Diaz expressed interest. Diaz was a Stockton native.
Diaz tweeted a photo of the face-off in August 2018 and said: "I'll be fighting Dp in January don’t be scared lil’ b***h that time now or ever."
Poirier quickly spotted Diaz's tweet, and he said he would be happy to settle the matter 'this month.
Diaz, who is in the last fight of his UFC contract was, laughed at Poirier's claim and said he was 'full o' s**t.
A fired up Poirier responded by saying, "I'm serious bro."
The Ultimate Fighter Season Five winner Diaz didn’t reply to Poirier’s tweet. This prompted The Diamond to post: "Nathaniel?"
Later, he added that "1st to Shoot is a Dusty B***h."
According to Ariel Helwani, MMA journalist, Poirier and Diaz are far more than just tweeting about their differences.
He tweeted: "Both @DustinPoirier and @NateDiaz209 are legitimately serious about fighting one another next month, I'm informed."
"Both would agree to fight for January."
Poirier and Diaz were 32-year-old and 36 years respectively when they were scheduled to face each other in the main event at UFC 230 in New York.
Poirier sustained a hip injury that ended his Madison Square Garden career.
While he competes in a weight class below Diaz at the moment, Poirier, a lightweight standout, has been aiming for a 170lb matchup with Stockton's slugger for nearly a year.
He said this during a January appearance on Joe Rogan Experience Podcast: "I think before my end fighting, I'm going fight 170."
"I'll fight Nate up to 170. For sure. Because of how it broke apart, I believe so.
He said, "Me and him were supposed fight at Madison Square Garden.
"I was kind of the fall guy. He points out that I pulled out of the fight, and I did.
"I went to get stem cell treatment on my hip.
"But I was going fight, I was going through a camp to fight him if they hadn't started offering me replacement opponents.
"Nate was playing with the UFC and UFC began offering me opponents.
"And I said, "Look guys, this is happening, then I'm going to take care of my hip."
"He's a man I've always wanted fight."
