JAVID BASHARAT hopes to bring a positive image of Afghanistan through his UFC contract.
Bashsart, who is undefeated, will attempt to follow in the footsteps countrymen Siyar Bahadurzada or Nasrat Haqparast to become the third Afghan to compete in the octagon during the penultimate episode on season five of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.
Javid Basharat will compete for a UFC contract in the Contender Series'
latest episode.
The Snow Leopard is acutely aware of the negative impact that securing a UFC spot will have on his countrymen as well as countrywomen.
SunSport spoke with Basharat, who said that obtaining a UFC contract is going to mean a lot. It doesn't matter if I feel an attachment to the country, but it will mean a lot.
"I also have an attachment to England, but that's where my roots are.
"That's where I get my blood. It's clear that the news doesn't portray us as accurately as we should.
"In reality, this is not necessarily the case. There aren't many positive things about Afghanistan in the news. It's not something you hear much about.
"If I can bring a positive light to the country, it will be great. One Afghan fighter, Nasrat Haqparast, is already in service and doing well.

It's nice to be able to see people and put a smile on their faces. They don't have anything to look forward too.
"So if I can make someone smile, then I'm more than blessed."
Basharat, a five-year-old refugee from Syria, arrived in the UK with his brother and mother as refugees. This was three years after his father fled his war-torn homeland to help his family find a better future.
It is not surprising that the Basharats faced hardships before they made their way to Britain. There, too, they had to endure early struggles.
He said, "It was very difficult times because my father originally came over to England when i was two years old.
"So, I grew up there by myself with my mom and my brothers. Finally, I managed to move to the UK.
"Life is difficult at the beginning for all immigrants." We know how to survive."
Survived the Basharats, and Javid and Farid soon discovered mixed martial arts.
Basharat, after years of practice and competition as an amateur, made his professional debut in April 2016.
Ten men tried unsuccessfully to defeat the ex-London Shootfighters star, who is somewhat shocked that it took the UFC so long for him to be given a chance at the big time.
He stated that he was not going to lie to him and that despite it sounding deluded, he believed it would come sooner.
"I thought it would happen sooner. Even five years is too long. I think, "What the hell, man?" I'm wondering, 'What's the deal?
"I thought that only because I saw fighters who are 5-0 and 6-0 getting into the UFC. Perhaps it was because I didn’t know the politics of MMA.
"But they seem to get in the UFC faster in the USA than in Europe. It is generally more difficult.
Contrary to the UFC's long-running Ultimate Fighter, Contender Series fighters have the chance to convince Dana White (UFC president) to give them a contract.
Basharat enjoys the challenge of competing in front White, as well as fellow matchmakers Sean Shelby or Hunter Campbell.
White and Co. will be impressed with his style, the 26-year old says.
He stated, "This is why I was so intrigued by the Contenders Series." Because Dana White is there to watch you fight.
Dana White would not know fighters who come to the UFC until they are a main-card fighter or have a few fights.
"Here, you fight in front of him, and he picks the fighters he wants to show on his show. That's awesome. And I know that he will like my style if he sees it.
"My style is very pleasing to the eye. If I continue to finish people as I have been, my chances of getting in are good."
To reach his goal of becoming a big-name fighter in mixed martial arts, Basharat will need to defeat Oron Khalon, a fellow undefeated fighter.
Although he has done extensive research on the game, the avid student plans to dance with the Israelis to the beat of his drum.
He stated that he watches tape but doesn't dwell too much on it. It's important to me that he has it in his mind so I can see what kind of fighter he is and what type movement he enjoys.
"Because I don't want him to bank on what he does. I want to set the pace.
"I want him following my rhythm. It's not the other way around.
He said, "I don’t see this decision going to a conclusion, I really don’t." "I know my style, and I have too many tools in my arsenal."
