Bones thundered against the pads with their bare knuckle shots

Jones has been increasing his training over recent months - his new hulking frame is ready to mix it up with the big boys in MMA's top promotion.

On Thursday night, the UFC's ex-pound-for-pound champion shared a clip in which he was seen bare-knuckling with one of his coaches.

The caption that accompanied his photo read: "Right now, I'm exactly there I need to."

"I look forward to seeing myself in a few more months, when things really start to pick up.

"Feeling sharp across all areas."

Jones, 35, looked strong as he cracked the pads. His legion of fans were quick to comment about his transformation.

One said: "Looking like a big big problem."

Another said, "Let's go. Can't wait until we see in the Octagon."

One commented, "Pretty fast to be a heavyweight."

Another participant said: "Got to need a new name, champ. "Bones is no more viable."

Jones has not been seen in the Octagon since his controversial defense of the light-heavyweight title at UFC 247, February 2020.

Jones' departure from the UFC was also due to a very public contract dispute.

SunSport however revealed that negotiations between the parties had been resumed in January.

Richard Schaefer, Bones' advisor, stated that Bones is ready, willing and able fight anyone we can get for the title of heavyweight champion.

UFC President Dana White also echoed the declaration of former Golden Boy Promotions chief.

He stated that Jon Jones was ready to go. We just need to wait for an opponent.

"It will be Francis [Ngannou] or Stipe Mocic depending on how long it takes for his knee to heal."
