UFC star Gilbert Burns would love to beat Conor McGregor at welterweight if he fights again

GILBERT BURNS believes Conor McGregor is not a good fit for the UFC's welterweight section.

The Dubliner has fought there twice in the past, going 1-1 against Nate Diaz in two epic fights back at 2016.

Gilbert Burns believes Conor McGregor is not a welterweight.

Burns does not believe that the Irish star should fight at 170 pounds, but he would be willing to fight him.

MMA Fighting: "He is not a welterweight fighter, but if he wishes to fight at welterweight I'd love for him to beat the s*** out Conor."

"I don't think he will take that punch. I don't even mean grappling, that would be unfair. Take him down and maul him. But if Conor is fighting me, it's a win for both of us.

"I'm going after him and I'm going get a lot of crazy money."

"I don't even call for that fight, it's unfair. He's probably a 55-pounder, he's 170 and he cannot take those punches. He can't handle that kind of wrestling.

The Notorious is currently in the final stages in recovering from his horrific broken leg sustained in the trilogy fight with Dustin Pourier last July.

McGregor, 34 years old, has recently returned to kick with his injured leg. He believes it will not be long before McGregor is back in the Octagon.

The Notorious reflected on a thrilling night of UFC 277 fights and wrote in a tweet: "I'm buzzing cuz... I want to return."

SunSport spoke to Dana White, UFC president earlier this year. "We're looking into early fall, if all goes well."

"If his leg heals well and he is given the permission to start training properly, then he may be able to train in the fall."

However, a setback in his recovery may have opened the door to a pivotal comeback fight for him early next year.
