Masvidal was not always so fortunate. He made his mark on the underground circuit by hosting backyard brawls with Kimbo Slice.

As a welterweight fighter, he lived in his car and struggled to make ends work fighting for very little money.

Mike Brown posted a throwback photo of the team, which showed how far they've come.

Masvidal is holding a sign reading: "Hungry! Will fight for food! Backyards, UFC, KFC, er SHOW ME THE $$$ !! !"

Brown captioned Brown's post with the following: "Here is a classic. - A young Pre-UFC @gamebredfighter looking to get paid and signed by a major MMA organization.

After stints with Bellator and Strikeforce, Masvidal finally signed with UFC in 2013.

He was a steady success, but he failed to make it big. In 2017, he was even considered for his future after consecutive losses.

Masvidal, 37 years old, will take a two year break from MMA in order to appear on a reality TV show called Exatlon Estados Unidos.

He was left alone and without access to the internet, but he resolved to make it better.

In 2019, Masvidal saw a meteoric rise, with wins over Darren Till (29), Ben Askren (37), and Nate Diaz (36).

Kamaru Usman (34), would then lose two title fights, one ending in a loss and the other ending in a brutal knockout.

Masvidal, 33, returns to the ring this weekend against arch-rival Colby Covington.

They were once friends, training partners and roommates. But now they are sworn enemies.

It doesn't need a title, but there are far more at stake. Years of feuding and threats will end when the octagon door closes.
