The Canadian star will win the final fight. He will be fighting for the title of welterweight champion and $1m cash prize.

MacDonald is now the champion of Bellator and has been challenged for the UFC title.

However, he still has to win the life-changing cheque for his daughter Maia, Olivia and son Rocky.

MacDonald, 33 years old, said to the New York Post that it was more about fighting for his family at this stage in my career.

It's not a selfish, inner desire. It's still there. That part of it that is achieving goals.

"But the other half of it is providing for our family. That's the most important thing for me."

The PFL is MMA’s only league format. It consists of a 2-bout regular season followed by a knockout playoff stage.

Each division's fighters earn points based on their win in the first two fights. The top four qualify.

MacDonald, 35, beat Brett Cooper in his opener to win six points. Sadibou Sy, 35 in July lost to MacDonald.

His submission in the first round was sufficient to get him into the fourth round in Wales. There, Umalatov (12-0), 30, is waiting.

MacDonald is in his second season, but this marks his first qualification into the knockout stages.

He stated that he believes the best way to keep fit is to continue training and not get too high too soon.

"I felt very drained last season. It's still difficult this year. However, I believe I have maintained a faster pace during the regular season leading into the playoffs.
