"The new you?" No - Conor McGregor's chances to beat Charles Oliveira, ex-UFC champ, are slimmed by Khabib's coach

CONOR McGREGOR believes he can beat Charles Oliveira, as Khabib Nurmagomedov's coach has told him.

McGregor has been named his No1 target by Oliveira, an ex-UFC champion who was stripped from the belt in May because she had lost weight.

Even without the belt, the Brazilian is still considered to be the best lightweight athlete in the world.

Javier Mendez, the coach who beat McGregor in 2018 and cornered Khabib, claimed that McGregor would be defeated by Oliveira.

Mendez said to Submission Radio, "I believe the old Conor gives anyone challenges."

"But the new Conor I've seen in the last three fights, yes. I don't.

"I don’t see him doing much to Charles. The new guy, not Charles. The old man, yes, one hundred percent.

McGregor, 34 years old, has lost his two last fights against Dustin Poirier (whom he knocked out back in 2014).

However, Poirier (33), won the January 2021 rematch via KO, before their trio bout ended in disaster.

McGregor broke his leg in round one, and McGregor has spent the past year recovering and rehabilitating.

Oliveira, 32 years old, last fought in May, when he defeated Justin Gaethje (33), in round one.

He was weighed in at 0.5lb more than the 155lb limit just one day before he lost his UFC title.

Oliveira considers himself still the champ, and he wants to fight McGregor again.

Combate reported that he wanted to fight McGregor in Brazil in January.

"That would be great. Everybody knows that I am interested in this fight due to the money."
