UFC 267: Glover Teixeira (42), becomes the oldest UFC champion with a stunning defeat of Jan Blachowicz at Fight Island

GLOVER TEIXEIRA stunned the world by claiming UFC 267's light-heavyweight title, becoming the oldest champion in UFC history, and also became the youngest first-time champion.

Brazilian bruiser, who was first to challenge for the belt seven-years ago, submitted Jan Blachowicz from Poland in the second round at their Abu Dhabi showdown.

After taking Blachowicz's back, the Brazilian submitted Blachowicz to a rear-naked choke

Blachowicz was stunned by Teixeira's shocking upset, and Teixeira won the light-heavyweight crown at the age of 42.

He said, "20 years baby, in his post-fight interview." It's hard to put into words.

He said, "We spoke about Dana White and the UFC and the way he promotes it and how he violates the rules. That's why UFC is what they are."

"And I'm violating the rules, 42-years old. These rules will continue to be broken.

Blachowicz, calm and relaxed, opened up with a few low leg kicks and seemed content to work at range in round one.

He was back on his feet in less than two minutes after a stunning high-crotch takedown by a veteran.

Texeira quickly got to work in the guard and took short, sharp shots at the champion who was grounded.

Blachowicz was given food for thought by a series of elbows in the last minute and the first round.

Blachowicz was asked by his corner to keep his back from the fence during the interval. He did so after a quick takedown attempt by the challenger.

He was able to make a beautiful three-punch combination, and then he added a textbook slip left hand counter. These were obvious signs that the Pole had finally found his rhythm.

He was able to withstand two attempts by the Brazilian to take him down with renewed confidence.

After he had eaten a bad left hook during a heavy exchange, he soon found himself on his knees.

Texeira's third attempt at taking down the champ was a success as he quickly grounded him.

To the delight of all, he took Blachowicz by the hand and pulled a nasty back-naked choke.

Blachowicz, who was badly injured, quickly got to the choke and was able to usher in the Teixeira era for the light-heavyweight division.

Fans were told by Teixeira, an emotional woman: "Never lose sight of your dreams."

"Do not listen to what others say. They will put you down.

"Don't listen or be influenced by negative people. Be confident in yourself and continue to move forward.

Blachowicz, 38 has made a vow to rebound from his first defeat in more than two years.

He stated, "Everything was wrong. I believe I have left the legendary Polish power in the hotel. That's exactly what happened.

"But, you know that this is not the end. This book is over. I am not a quitter and I won't be going anywhere.

"I will return, for certain, again."
