UFC chief Dana White offered Georges St-Pierre Khabib, MMA great, super-fight to make an Oscar De La Hoya boxing match

GEORGES ST.PIERRE revealed that UFC president Dana White offered him a superfight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, after he had blocked him from boxing Oscar De La Hoya.

The two-division champion in MMA, who retired in February 2018, was set to box The Golden Boy before White vetoed it.

White was unable to block the fight because St-Pierre remains under contract with UFC. However, the veteran promoter tried to make up the difference with a historic clash against Nurmagomedov.

St-Pierre stated that he initially refused to participate in The MMA Hour's appearance.

"Then, he thought about it, but he returned with the argument that it wasn't because Oscar is going to lose; it's because Triller took me and made money while I was still under contract with UFC.

"So what Dana said -- listen to this. Then he returned and asked me if he wanted to fight Khabib.

Dana said that I had told her, "That's very odd." Why did you not want to fight us when we asked you years ago? Why is it happening now?

He said that Khabib wasn't retired, and that he was not the same person he used to be. It all makes sense now.

"So, I didn't want too, but I was curious about what might've happened. So I said to him, "I'm going to think it over," and waited.

"It turned out that Khabib didn't want me to fight him because I requested the fight with Khabib.

"I never asked for the fight against Khabib. Dana White probably spoke to Khabib [his manager] Ali Abdelaziz, and said that Georges wanted to fight Khabib.

"We had asked for it a long time back, but I didn’t ask again. I didn't ask for the fight again. Both of us are now retired, and I'm fine.

St-Pierre tried to land a huge payday against De La Hoya by calling former UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta.

The 40-year old admitted that he called Lorenzo to convince Dana.

"Lorenzo loved the idea, but Dana didn't want it. I knew Oscar hated me, but I told him that I was going to make Oscar look bad, because I'm in great health.

"I have been in great shape all the time, and I'm going for a full training camp with Freddie Roach (and his world champions), so I'll be well prepared."

"At first, he said to me that he didn't want it because he believed that Oscar would destroy me in a boxing match.

"And I had good arguments with him -- I told Oscar that I believe Oscar has more miles than I do, that he's not in his prime, that I think Oscar has more mileage, that I have more to my credit, that I kept busy the entire time, and that I'm still in great condition, so I'm prepared, and that this fight is very serious.

"If it's my name, my image is attached to the it -- I will do it 100%.

Dana said that I had told him, "If there is one MMA fighter who can go to boxing, and look good in this setting, it would be me."

De La Hoya was granted the opportunity to fight Vitor Belfort, a former champion of UFC.

They will be facing off on September 11, at the main event of Triller’s latest boxing card.
