After a striking exchange, Aspinall fell and was unable to continue the fight.

After an MRI, he was admitted for surgery and the severity of his injuries were revealed.

Aspinall stated, "Today's surgery day. I am currently in London and starving. You can't eat before surgery.

"I suffered a torn MCL and a torn Meniscus, as well as some ACL damage.

"So, I'm going to fix that today. I just wanted to thank you for your help.

"I appreciate it. I've received so much love ever since the accident. I'll see everyone on the other side."

Aspinall, 29 years old, had a streak of eight wins, with the most recent victory over Alexander Volkov (33), in March.

His stardom brought the UFC back home to England for the second year in a row.

It ended in heartbreak for Aspinall, who suffered a freak injury against Blaydes on 31.

The unfortunate end did not stop them from enjoying a post-fight pint.

Blaydes stated on The MMA Hour that "I was in my hotel room.

"My dad, I think he was downstairs in the lobby at one of the bars.

"He was there and bumped into Aspinall’s dad. My dad is a talker.

"He will make friends with anyone. If you two have a few drinks, he'll become your best friend.

"So I guess he started to talk, and then my father walked into my bedroom and said, "Hey, let’s go up to Aspinall’s room. He would like to share a drink with me.

"So I was like: 'OK, let's go down.' Then we climb up and they're so nice.

"The entire Aspinall [crew], his entire squad, his father, his uncle, and everyone in between. Everybody was so nice and cool.

"We were there for about an hour. It was a solid hour. They were very nice men, and the atmosphere was friendly and inviting."
