KAMARU USMAN has taken the title of UFC's number one fighter pound for pound.
The 34-year-old Nigerian has a record of 14-0 at the UFC and has successfully defended his title as welterweight on four occasions.
Jones holds the top spot in the rankings from earlier this year, but has not fought since February 2020, when he beat Dominick Reyes by unanimous decision.
Since then, the 34-year old has been involved in a dispute with Dana White, chief of UFC.
After White stalled on an increase to the heavyweight division, White told Jones that he was "free to never again fight" and they have been arguing over pay.
Jones was taken into custody Friday for allegedly domestic violence and tampering in a vehicle in Las Vegas.
After beating Colby Covington via TKO in December 2019, Usman is now preparing for the rematch.
Now Usman can cement his title of pound-for-pound king by meeting again in the main UFC 268, scheduled for November 6.
White previously referred to Jones as the "GOAT", and suggested earlier this year, that Usman was on his way towards claiming that title.
He said to MMA Junkie, "I think we all can agree. No matter what your feelings are, Usman is being booed into the ring tonight. But he's the best fighter ever.
"He is on his way to possibly being the greatest person of all time.
"He is a stud. He always looks better when he comes out."
Alex Volkanovski, who defended the featherweight title against Brian Otega on Saturday, has moved up one place to third in the most recent rankings.
The Australian won unanimously in a fight-of-the year contender to increase his UFC record of ten consecutive wins.
